Cheap Website Design – Information At Your Fingertips

There are still a lot of cheap website design tips that you can use to improve the marketing of your website. Information is scattered everywhere in the internet. Before you divulge into designing your website by spending a lot of money, it would be wise to learn how the highly-paid designers do their job. So to help you find your way to creating a cheap website design, read the following tips:

Branding

Since you’ll be selling products or services in your website, it would be nice to put a tagline next to your company logo. It would also be good to have a favicon, which is a small graphic situated next to the URL in the address bar. This a cheap website design but it attracts a lot of customers. It makes them feel that this company is proud of its name and logo.

Navigation and Presentation

One of the emerging and the best cheap website design in terms of navigation is the use of breadcrumb trails. A breadcrumb is something like this: Home > Appliances > TV > Plasma TVs. Having a breadcrumb trail in your website makes navigation easier and faster.

Lay out your web page using tables. Set the dimensions (length and/or width) in terms of percentage instead of a constant number so that the page will automatically adjust to the screen’s size. This removes the tendency of using the horizontal/vertical scrollbar to view the contents of the webpage.

Don’t use amateurish features like: all caps text, centered blocks of text, busy backgrounds, unnecessary animated GIFs and too much exclamation marks.

You should also avoid using pop-up windows. These annoy and distract attention of your visitors. That’s why as much as possible let all of your contents be written inside the main webpage only.

Content

Organize the content in your website. Don’t put too much in a single webpage. Break the page into several pages and shorten the length of each paragraph. Don’t make the font size too small or else the text will be too hard to read at. Use percentage when setting the font size so that the user can make the text size bigger or smaller by setting it in his or her browser.

Graphics

Use graphics that are optimized for webpage use. Use either JPEG or GIF formats only. Make sure to minimize the file sizes of your images while maintaining good quality. Use thumbnails for displaying photo galleries. Let them be clickable and linked to the actual image sizes.

Don’t use graphics that look similar to ads. People won’t notice them because they’ll think it is just an advertisement.

Links

Your links must be descriptive enough to let the visitor know where it will lead if he clicks it. Use a common color in all your links and don’t underline words that are not links. People might confuse this over a link and will try to mouse hover it. For visited links, use a different color for them. This way your visitor will know that he has visited that link already.
