Bad Navigation
Navigation is a crucial aspect of best website design. There are chances that you place a page in multiple place or you have extremely long sub pages in both condition user would be confused and that we want to avoid at any cost.
- It has also been noticed that some websites use flash based navigation system, since flash doesn’t contain separate pages in navigation map there is no SEO benefits at all. If you intend to use flash compulsory then you should make separate SWF for each page so they can generate separate links for each page and search engines can recognize them.
- Same is true for JavaScript, just degrade it to HTML.

Bad Text
For best website design, bad typography is an issue on web that many do not take it seriously.
- Use good fonts, most preferably standard web fonts like Times, Helvetica, etc. Avoid Comic sans like fonts which format clumsy appearance of your text.
- Color of the text must be in proper contrast to the background so it can be read easily.
- Use proper leading
- Avoid lengthy text blocks. Lengthy text blocks put strains on eyes so make it short and sweet by using four to five lines per paragraph. By doing so you can make your readers to read easily an 800 words long web page.
- Liquid content column rarely works. It sometime expands ugly way and becomes non-readable as well as leaves small images in proportionally big text block. Columns must be smaller than in a book so it can make reading easier on the screen.
- Font size should be proportional, not too big or not too small.
- Text should have proper titles and hierarchy should be clear.
Links
For best website design, take care of links. Color of links must be matching with website. Links should be underlined so it can be differentiate from other text and can be easily visible to the visitors.
